On December 9th, a media tour was held in the settlements of the Cottage type IDP settlements of Gori Municipality. Journalists visited three IDP settlements (Verkhvebi, Skra and Karaleti IDP settlements) and heard about the existing problems from community representatives.
In the frames of the project, IDPs named the problems existing in the IDP settlements (both in collective centers and cottage type settlements located in the Shida Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Kvemo Kartli regions) in primary surveys and in trainings. At the next stage, two main problems were selected for the advocacy campaign and they started to hold working and round table meetings with local and central government officials. The aim of the project is to increase awareness of the IDP communities, develop their skills and engagement, which implies successful advocacy processes to solve various problems in the IDP community.
Information Media Tour was held within the framework of the project "Towards a Fairer Society", which is being implemented by the center “Abkhazeti” in Shida Kartli with the financial support of the Civil Society Development Fund (CISU) and in partnership with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC). The project covers 20 locations and will be completed in February 2018.
