Advocacy trainings

Summary training  "Advocacy and Participatory Governance" of the project "Support for Energy Efficient Approaches in Social Service Providers", was held on November 27, 2021, in Zugdidi Office of the Charity Humanitarian Centre "Abkhazeti" with the Zoom Platform. The aim of the training was to discuss the tools of advocacy and participatory policy around energy efficiency, environmental protection and related topics, and to develop project initiatives based on the information discussed in the first training. 
The following topics were discussed at the training:
- The importance of local self-government;
- Principles of program budgeting;
- Types, stages and cycle of advocacy;
- Develop an advocacy strategic plan and project outline.
The training was attended by representatives of social organizations, local communities and municipalities. During the training, the importance of participatory governance for the implementation of the principle of good governance was emphasized, the urgency of climate change mitigation measures for the city of Zugdidi was noted, including the commitments made by the "Mayors' Agreement"
Priority of performance. The participants of the training discussed the challenges of the principles of participatory governance and the opportunities for its effective implementation. It was noted that it was important to strengthen the involvement of local self-government in the areas of renewable energy, environment and energy efficiency and to develop joint, effective measures.
Within the framework of the project, it is planned to install solar power plants (panels) in three community centers of the center "Abkhazia" (including the multifunctional community center in S. Rukhi, Zugdidi municipality), to share experience with community members and social service providers, raise awareness and raise environmental awareness. On renewable energy topics.
The project is funded by the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Program (GEF SGP) implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Georgia.
