We'd like to introduce you to the beneficiary of Migrant Reintegration Program - Mariam Svanidze!

In 2019, Mariam migrated from Georgia and applied for shelter in Switzerland. In Georgia, she started studying to become a teacher, but had to abandon it and then worked as a tutor for 20 years.

Shortly after arriving in Switzerland, she became an employee in the nursery of the shelter center, where she was housed. She spent over four years learning this profession and developed a love for working with children. When her asylum application was rejected and she learned that she had to leave Switzerland, she turned to the "Reintegration in the Country of Origin" program with a project idea. She noticed that there were few childcare options in Kutaisi, Georgia, and that parents had to travel long distances to drop off their children. So she decided to use the experience she gained in Switzerland to open a kindergarten in Kutaisi.

In 2023, she came back to Georgia again. Thanks to the program's financial support, she will renovate an apartment and furnish it with special materials for the children. Since spring 2024, she has been looking after children between the ages of 2 and 6 from Monday to Friday.
