Study Tour in Berlin

On June 25-29 the study tour was held in Berlin, in which the executive director of CHCA Nukri Milorava and Program Manager Thea Kacharava took part.

In frames of the EU funded project “Qualification for Re-integration – a Way Back into Society” ASB Georgia together with partner organizations - Charity Humanitarian Centre "Abkhazeti" and Center for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia - organized study tour in Berlin for the representatives of Georgian Government. Event participants included representatives from the Ministry of Corrections of Georgia, National Probation Agency, Ministry of Justice of Georgia and Center for Crime Prevention.

The goal of the study tour was to share the best practices about re-socialization of persons in conflict with the law. Delegation members had an opportunity to visit the Ministry of Justice, Probation Service, Non-Governmental Organizations and penal institution JVA “Heidering” in Berlin. Representatives of the tour received information on the federal justice system and probation services in Berlin and were introduced to internet portal for social workers as well as street working project of non-governmental organization “Gangway”. Additionally, Georgian delegation visited organization “Stadtmission” to see the work related to supervised accommodation on-site.

The study trip will be followed by workshops with international participation to discuss the main findings and recommendations elaborated during the study tour. At the final stage, based on the mentioned activities, a package of recommendations will be elaborated and handed over to the Government of Georgia with the aim to contribute to the improvement of the existing re-socialization programs.
